Yaniv Nachum

Born in Israel in March 1977, after his studies in the Israeli jazz academy “Rimon”, joined Yaniv the military orchestra there he got his classical and jazz education. During his military service played in the Tel Aviv Jazz Big Band as a lead tenor for two years and had the honor to play with great trombone player Slide Hampton.
In 1999 he moved to Holland to study in the conservatorium van Amsterdam. He studied with teachers As Ferdinand Povel, Rob Madna, and Jasper Blom and got his professional improvisation technique.
During his studies in the conservatory yaniv had the opportunity to study and work with great musicians as Chris Potter, Mike Mainieri, David Berkman, Willie Jones III,Phil Woods and many more.
In 2001/2002 played yaniv in the house band of the television show “FLOGISTON”, and as a band leader in the popular Dutch “DE NATIONAL WETENSCHAPSQUIZ “, for the VPRO network.
In 2002 moved yaniv to New York to complete his Master degree at the "Manhattan school of music", there he studied with Dave Liebman, Steve Slagle and more.
During his staying in Amsterdam worked yaniv with various ensembles, toured and won competitions all over Europe.
since 2003 a staff member at the Manhattan school of music and the conservatorium van Amsterdam “summer jazz workshop”.
Sice 2006 Yaniv is the conducter and arranger for the Amsterdam Jazz Orchestra (www.amsterdamjazzorchestra.com)
Currently teaching Jazz Improvisation at the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam.
