STORMVOGEL (musician, writer, artist) began as a novellist at the age of 19. His first works were published by Rothschild & Bach (Amsterdam) and received good reviews.
In the nineties Stormvogel created several mysterieplays, combining music, ballet, art, poetry, acting and swordfighting, based on Dutch folklore, legends and history. Since 1998 he performs with his Alter Ego JazzBarock Consort in jazzclubs and on festivals, "Drakenburger Concerto's", a eclectic mix of rock, jazz, classical, world, celtic, medieval music and electronic vintage. Stormvogel is mainly influenced by Magma and Christian Vander. Besides Magma he loves Mahavishnu, RTF, Hammer, Garbarek, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, Jimi Hendrix, Zappa and Aka Moon, Hildegard von Bingen, Steve Reich, Orff, Strawinsky, J.S. Bach, Richard Wagner, Stockhausen, Balkan music, Qawali (Pakistan Sufi), Dutch folklore and Scandinavian chant. Stormvogel relies on some the best players in the field of Dutch jazz and jazzrock, like Tineke Postma, Chander Sardjoe, Wiro Mahieu, Wieke Aurora Garcia, Rob van den Broeck, Onno Witte, Jeroen Pek and David de Marez Oyens. Related projects are PitchWhiteStorm and Bohemian Groove Orchestra. Next to his jazzbarock he works with several jazz artists, like Alexander Beets, Saralee Vos, Peter Lieberom and Phaedra Kwant. In 2008 Stormvogel toured with Lucas van Merwijk and Theodosii Spassov (Bulgary) and with Wieke Garcia (2008-2010). In 2010 he was moderator of the legendary French Zeuhl group Magma, during Music Meeting Festival. From 2006 untill now he is managing a small crossover Festival de Muzen, with jazzrock, poetry, art and dance, More info www.stormvogel.org | www.youtube.com/stormalterego | www.myspace.com/stormalterego | www.vprojazzlive.radio6.nl
