Estrella's Guajira - Cuban Country Songs
An enthusiastic bunch of (mostly) Cubans that do what they like best: play the music they grew up with, as heard through today's ears, with plenty of space for creative soloing.
The group's cd, Alma Guajira - Cuban country songs, was nominated for an Edison award, the Dutch equivalent of the Grammys.
Estrella's band tours the USA and Canada in September 2007. Earlier activities include a TV performance for VPRO's Vrije Geluiden (see our website!) and a very successful concert at the North Sea Jazz Festival 2005. August 2006 the group was the main attraction at the Dias Latinos Festival in Amersfoort. In september 2007, "Estrella's Guajira" successfully toured in the US and Canada, playing festivals in Chicago, Madison and Toronto.
