Bert van der Meulen

At the age of 12 I started taking classical guitar lessens at the local music school in my home town. During high school I joined several local rock and blues bands.

In order to meet my wishes in becoming an musician I started taking lessons with Winfred Buma, a jazz guitarist teacher at the Prins Claus Conservatory.

I decided to go to The Hague to follow a jazz guitar programme at the Royal Conservatory. I took lessons with Martijn van Iterson, Eef Albers, Wim Bronnenberg and Peter Niewerf. I also attended a series of workshops including those with Kurt Rozenwinkel and David Liebman

Important sources of inspiration are Joe Pass, Jimmy Raney, John Scofield and Sonny Rollins.

I recently play with my own band and I am teaching guitar.
