Anne Chris

Anne Chris (Alkmaar,1977) concluded her vocal-training at the Conservatory of Amsterdam in 2003. That same year she made her debut at the North Sea Jazz Festival in the Hague.

In 2004 Anne Chris’ debut-cd, ‘Tomorrow is Today’,was released by Stichting Jazz Impuls. The CD premieres 6 of her own compositions complemented by pop and jazz standards in original arrangements. She is accompanied by renowned musicians: Wim Bronnenberg (gitaar), Marcus Olgers (piano), Cord Heineking (contrabas), Martijn Vink (drums), Ruud Breuls (trompet), en Bart Fermie (percussie), sax-player Tineke Postma and the tablas-player Niti Ranjan Biswas. The cd has received many good reviews.

In 2005 Anne Chris reached the final of the Jazzvocalistenconcours in Zwolle (NL). In the same year she performed for the 2nd time at the North Sea Jazz Festival. She also toured in Marokko with guitarplayer Jan Wouter Oostenrijk, for the Foundation Marokko-Holland-400 years.

From 2004 til 2007 Anne Chris was part of the vocal group Sister Bop, together with Eva Baggerman en Esmée Bor Stotijn. In 2006/2007 Sister Bop joined the Jazz Impuls Tour of Dutch theaters, together with the Rob van Bavel Trio.

In 2007, Anne Chris played in the theatre-show ‘De Schreeuwstorm’ from Dutch comedian, Youp van ‘t Hek.

In 2007/2008 she joined the Jazz Impuls Tour again.Together with the Wim Bronnenberg Trio she performed her own songs. The highlight of this tour was the performance in the prestigious Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

In the fall of 2009, Anne Chris will finish her second album, which will premiere 10 original songs. She wrote her lyrics in co-operation with American singer Léah Kline. The sound of the album is a mix between jazz, pop and soul styles. Electronic and acoustic grooves underscore her varied repertoire of uptempo songs to intimate ballads.
