Andrew McCormack



Andrew launched his solo career in April 2006 with his debut album, 'Telescope' which gathered great critical acclaim and led to his receiving the BBC Jazz Award for 'Rising Star' in July 2006. Since then Andrew has continued to perform throughout the world with various groups including his own.

In 2010 he co-released 'MY DUO' with saxophonist and composer, Jason Yarde which launched at a sell-out performance at the Queen Elizabeth Hall as part of the London Jazz Festival in Nov 2009.
Andrew has also been a pivotal member of the Kyle Eastwood Band which performs globally and has co-written some of the material on the latests albums.

Andrew has recently been taking private composition lessons with Mark-Anthony Turnage and in 2009 was commissioned by the London Symphony Orchestra as part of their Panufnik Young Composers Scheme for a performance at the Barbican later that year. Andrew has also contributed to the score and orchestrations, as well as performing on parts of the soundtrack for Clint Eastwood's film 'Flags Of Our Fathers' and its companion movie, 'Letters from Iwo Jima' with the latter movie picking up the Golden Globe award for Best Foreign Language Film and Academy award nomination for best picture. He has since been invited back to to do orchestrations and additional music for Mr Eastwood.

Andrew has worked extensively with the Heritage Orchestra, most notably composing 'Midnight Miniatures' a short concerto for Jazz Saxophonist, Stan Sulzmann in 2008.
