Ana Beck Quartet

Ana Beck was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. With both parents being classical voice-teachers, it is no surprise that at the age of fifteen, she was already at home in the recording-studio and on stage. All over Brasil, she performed as a backing-vocalist for various Brazilian popstars.

In 1988 she ventured out to Amsterdam and has since been appearing regularly on stages in and outside of Holland with Brasilian bands such as “Trema Terra”, “Caja Manga” and “Alvorada”. With Alvorada she performed at the Northsea Jazzfestival 1995.

Besides at the Northsea festival ‘95 Ana Beck could be heard at the Northsea ‘96 and 97, Afro Caribbean festival ‘94, with Paquito d’Rivera, Hot Brass Festival ‘95 in Paris and Aruba Jazz festival ‘96. Ana has performed at numerous jazzclubs and music events, for example the well known Dutch jazzclubs BIMhuis Amsterdam, Dizzy Rotterdam, Paradiso Amsterdam (Viva Brasil Festival), Melkweg Amsterdam (Festa do Redondo), Vredenburg Utrecht ( SJU Jazzfestival), Erwin Vann’s “World Project (with Kenny Wheeler, amongst others) for the Belgian Television and the Curacao KLM Jazzfestival.

On november the 30th 2000 Ana Beck performed live in the well known Dutch radioprogramm TROS Sesjun.

The music of the Ana Beck quartet includes both own compositions and Brasilian standards and is supported by the so exciting and swinging Brasilian rhythms, performed by sidemen who belong to the top-level in their style in Europe.
