Yaniv Nachum

Image of 'Yaniv Nachum' Born in Israel in March 1977, after his studies in the Israeli jazz academy “Rimon”, joined Yaniv the military orchestra there he got his classical and jazz education. During his military service played in the Tel Aviv Jazz Big Band as a lead tenor for two years and had the honor to play with great trombone player Slide Hampton.
In 1999 he moved to Holland to study in the conservatorium van Amsterdam. He studied with teachers As Ferdinand Povel, Rob Madna, and Jasper Blom and got his professional improvisation technique.
During his studies in the conservatory yaniv had the opportunity to study and work with great musicians as Chris Potter, Mike Mainieri, David Berkman, Willie Jones III [more...]


Yasam HANCILAR

Yasam HANCILAR was born in 1979, in Turkey. He started singing and playing guitar when he was 15, and up to now he has sung and played in different bands and projects. He founded his own jazz band ‘Jazzmates’ at the beginning of 2007, and he played with his band in different clubs and festivals including ‘14th International Istanbul Jazz Festival’ and the most prestigous jazz club in Turkey ‘Nardis Jazz Club’. He attended the ‘4th Nardis Young Jazz Vocalists Competition’ and he won the prize to go to Estonia for ‘8th Nomme International Young Jazz Artists Competition, 2008’. Yellowjackets

Image of 'Yellowjackets' The Yellowjackets have become one of the most influencial jazz fusion bands of today. Their impressive discography of 18 albums showcases a millenium proof amalgam of jazz and funk.

In 1978 a group of veteran session musicians came together to record the Robben Ford album ‘The Inside Story’. The trio of musicians, which included keyboardist Russell Ferrante, bassist Jimmy Haslip and drummer Ricky Lawson, soon discovered a certain "chemistry" and musical affinity that led to their formation of Yellowjackets.

Their debut album Yellowjackets became an instant hit in jazz radio, getting a lot of public and critical acclaim. Mirage A Trois followed in its footsteps. The 1984 Playboy Jaz [more...]


Yoshiyuki Yamanaka

Image of 'Yoshiyuki Yamanaka' Yamanaka first started seriously playing the tenor saxophone while in college. He did well enough in his informal studies that he soon got his first series of gigs as a professional jazz musician with Osamu Ichikawa's quartet and Satoshi Inoue's quartet. From that point, there was no turning back. Over the past several years, he has played with some finest jazz musicians -- e.g. Koike Lee, Jimmie Smith, Harman Foster and others -- and has toured NYC ('78, '98, and '99) with gigs at some jazz clubs. Yvonne Smeets

Image of 'Yvonne Smeets' ‘Great musical artistry and originality’, the distinction given to vocalist Yvonne Smeets as she graduated the Royal conservatory summa cum laude in 2006, a year earlier she won the ‘Public’s award’ and second prize in the Dutch Vocal Jazz Competition. “Timing, improvisation and originality” the report from the jury read.
